Apple’s AirPods Pro are $200 at Amazon and B&H Photo today

Published

on

You can grab the AirPods Pro for just $200 at Amazon and B&H Photo today. Normally, these wireless earbuds cost $249. While this is not the lowest price we have seen Apple’s flagship earbuds sell for, it’s still a good deal. Unlike the standard AirPods, the Pro model features silicone tips, allowing for a more customizable fit for your ears in addition to better sound quality and active noise cancellation.

Speaking of B&H, the retailer has the 64GB 2020 iPad Air in silver or green for $559, $40 off its usual price. Unfortunately, you can only preorder the device because it is currently not in stock at B&H Photo. If you are okay with waiting for it to restock, this is still a good deal considering the new iPad Air just released last week.

Despite the $100 price increase compared to last year, my colleague Dieter Bohn pointed out in his review that this is the iPad model to get because of the better screen and faster processor.

Samsung’s 860 Pro with a storage capacity of 1TB is down to $200 at Amazon. This storage configuration normally costs $300, and this is the lowest price the product has been. The 860 is more expensive than other SATA SSDs on the market, but it has 2-bit MLC technology, which can be more reliable in the long run.

If you need to bulk up the storage on your Xbox One gaming console or something to store your backwards compatible games when the Xbox Series X / S launch next month, Amazon has a 4TB external hard drive by Seagate for just $88. Additionally, it includes a free two-month trial for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which can be used with the new consoles when they are available.

Apple will replace AirPods Pro for free with faulty noise cancellation, static or crackling

Published

on

Today, exactly one year after Apple first launched the AirPods Pro — and thus the same day the very first AirPods Pro owners will see their one-year warranties expire — Apple has launched a repair program that offers free repairs or replacements for another whole year if your AirPods Pro experience issues with noise cancellation or static.

Specifically, Apple will fix:

Crackling or static sounds that increase in loud environments, with exercise or while talking on the phone

Active Noise Cancellation not working as expected, such as a loss of bass sound, or an increase in background sounds, such as street or airplane noise

Apple says only a “small percentage of AirPods Pro” are affected by the issues, but it apparently wasn’t just an early batch — Apple says affected units were manufactured “before October 2020,” meaning every AirPods Pro ever made might be eligible. That’s quite a recall if so. Apple says it will repair faulty AirPods Pro for two years after you first buy them.

We’ve heard complaints about degraded noise cancellation before, and at least one Verge editor has replaced their AirPods Pro under warranty. It’s nice to hear that Apple isn’t just cutting buyers off as soon as that warranty expires.
